Clearly many people are struggling with stinkin’ thinkin’ right now.  Just take a look at the news, Facebook, Twitter, and so on. Stinkin’ thinkin’ is stripping away our motivation. (I feel it too, so maybe this week’s article is more for me than it is for any of you?!)


Realistic Expectations. Are you stressed because you feel things are out of control? Stop it!  Instead, control what you can control.  Put your energy toward the things and people you can influence and let go of the rest.

Clarity. Are you in a state of confusion? Are you wondering why?  Stop it!  Instead, ask the right questions to the right people to get the information you need to understand what is happening. Remember not to take information at face value (e.g., a Facebook post). Do your research.

Self-acceptance. Are you comparing yourself to others and wishing you were more like so and so? Stop it!  Instead, take an honest inventory of your skills and talents. Own and celebrate what you bring to the team, workplace, committee, etc. Then, set a goal to stretch yourself so you can continue to grow because … challenge promotes motivation.

Now, go out there and punch today in the face!
